I am an IT Professional looking for a challenge and chance to further my career in the computing industry. I have gained over two years commercial experience in the computing industry, the majority of which has been as a Software / Web Developer using the PHP programming Language. My postgraduate degree was in the field of computer science in which I obtained a merit classification. My undergraduate degree was in the field of Business Studies which has given me an insight into the business environment. I have a strong work ethic, always put 100% effort into my work and I am confident in my IT abilities.

Web Developer, VentureWeb (Vancouver), Oct 2008 - May 2009
The responsibilities of this role were on a day-to-day basis building websites using PHP / SQL programming code into Drupal and WordPress Content Managment Systems. Other responsibilities were being involved at all stages of the development process, managing own projects, time-lines, and liaise with clients where necessary. I was also involved with a number of in-house initiatives, and was also involved in creating numerous Flash advertising campaigns for Vancouver Canucks TV.

Whilst working for this employer I worked on numerous websites ranging from the Canadian Tourism Commission to Social Networking. I gained experience using Drupal, jQuery and the CodeIgniter framework.

The responsibilities of this role were to analyse and convert system designs and technical specifications into PHP / SQL programming code. Integrate Imaginet products and library code. Analyse and troubleshoot existing program code and correct errors as required. Run quality assurance tests to find errors and confirm that those programs meet business requirements, system designs, and technical specifications.
Web Developer, Shiny New Web, Feb 2007 - Oct 2007
Whilst working for this employer I have been involved in several web based projects. This involved the setting up of Shiny New Web, the web development division of IE Tech, developing database driven websites using PHP and MySQL and creating Flash websites, buttons, animations and viral banner advertising campaigns.

The responsibilities of this role involved meeting and greeting guests as they arrived at the Restaurant, and ensuring that they enjoyed the TGI experience. I also had the responsibility on busy nights of being Door Co-ordinator.

I have experience in programming languages such as HTML, XHTML, Javascript, Actionscript, CSS, SQL (Oracle), XML, UML, Python , PHP and Java. These languages were studied as part of my Masters qualification. For these modules I obtained a Distinction grade.
I am experienced using Web Development programs such as Dreamweaver, Eclipse PHP IDE, Zend Studio and Microsoft’s Visual Web Developer. For version control I have experience using Subversion(SVN). I have worked extensively with Computer Graphics packages including Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Director and Flash. I have also had exposure to the Eclipse IDE which I used for Java development.
I have experience creating complex Flash and Actionscript application, such as dynamical flash banners and fully interactive flash maps.
I have developed content managed website using Imaginet’s own CMS, Drupal and WordPress. I have also worked with frameworks such as CodeIgniter, Zend and jQuery.
I have experience using and developing on both Mac and PC platforms.
Through producing websites I have developed an understanding of cross browser issues, the W3C web standards, usability and accessibility.
I have an understanding of Search Engine Optimisation techniques used to improve a websites search engine ranking.
Through producing reports whilst in Employment and University, I have developed excellent project management skills demonstrating the ability to plan ahead, resolve problems and meet deadlines.

I N T E R E S T S & A C T I V I T I E S
I enjoy a variety of activities and interests; including playing football and rugby. I have a strong interest in flying and hope to obtain my private pilots license. Alongside these, I have pastimes such as attending the gym, golf, skiing, sailing and swimming. Whilst at School and University, I was a member of the rugby and football teams.
I took part in the School´s Young Enterprise Company. I held the position of Marketing Director and I designed our Company´s advertising campaign, for which we won the Young Enterprise best marketing campaign award.
I travelled the World for one year. Visiting countries such as Japan, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, United States and Canada. I took part in a variety of activities such as Skydiving, Bungy jumping, Rafting, Hiking, Surfing and Sailing. During my time travelling I met many people and experienced different cultures. Whilst in New Zealand I took part in Seasonal Fruit picking employment.
